The questions we get asked most, answered from our own experience.
A sea day is one of our favorite parts of cruising. Based on our experience, it’s an amazing opportunity to actually enjoy the ship itself, something you often don’t have time to do when you’re busy exploring a new city at every port. There’s something special about being in the middle of the sea, completely disconnected from everything. You can enjoy the pools, shop, relax, use the gym, explore the ship’s facilities, and let the kids enjoy the entertainment and activities. Most cruise lines also organize special activities and entertainment specifically for sea days. Instead of seeing a sea day as a day with nothing to do, see it as a day to discover everything the ship has to offer.
Rarely. Across five plus cruises, we felt real shaking once: crossing between oceans in Northern Europe, when the whole cabin shook through the night. Every other sailing, including our cruises in the Middle East, was calm. It's the exception, but it's the kind of thing we'd rather you heard from us before you book.
For us, definitely a cruise. We’ve travelled with our kids in many different ways — road trips, adventures, flights, city breaks, car rentals and cruises — and cruising has been the most enjoyable family experience. Most cruise ships have dedicated kids’ entertainment and kids’ clubs, although the names and facilities vary from one cruise line to another. Kids get to stay entertained, meet other children and make friends from different parts of the world, while parents also get some time to enjoy the cruise. For our family, cruise is definitely number one.
It really depends on the trip — and on your kids. A cruise? Take them. Absolutely. A road trip? It depends on how your children handle long drives and your travel style. An adventure trip? You need to consider whether your kids are ready for the physical demands of the experience. And there’s another important factor: the type of trip you want to have. A family trip means making part of the experience enjoyable for your kids, while a couple’s trip gives you more freedom to focus entirely on yourselves, including nightlife and activities that may not be suitable for children. There’s no right or wrong answer. Choose the trip that fits your family, your kids’ personalities and the experience you’re looking for.
Montenegro. It’s one of those destinations that we think deserves much more attention. From the dramatic coastline and beautiful towns to the mountains, lakes and national parks, Montenegro offers an incredible mix of nature, adventure and road-trip experiences. And one of our biggest tips? Rent a car and explore beyond the obvious stops.
Morocco. Morocco is incredibly diverse. You can go from vibrant cities to the coast, mountains, desert and small towns, often within the same trip. Our road trip through Morocco was one of those experiences where the journey itself became as memorable as the destinations.
Jordan and Morocco. Of course, every country has wonderful people, but these two really stood out to us personally. The warmth, hospitality and genuine interactions we experienced made our trips even more memorable — and that’s something you can’t really capture in an itinerary.
Yes. Our content is based on our real travel experiences. We don’t recommend a destination simply because it’s trending or because we’ve seen someone else talk about it. If we’ve been there, experienced it and have something useful to share, we’ll tell you about it. And if we haven’t been somewhere yet, we’d rather say that than pretend otherwise.
